Little is known however about the condition in goats and especially on coastal properties, the condition can be very severe. Even though tissue testing can show high enough levels of copper in the tissue and blood, the goat can still be displaying signs of copper deficiency. The balance of copper in the animal is due to a complex process involving the metabolic system. Copper in a goats diet is very important in the development of the nervous system, bone growth and hair pigmentation. Copper deficient goats will often have trouble conceiving kids and abortions are very common among goats suffering from CD.
