Canada suffered a majour depression from 1929-1939. In output it was similar to the timing and magnitude to that of the united sates. The great depression was a time of great chaos and turmoil caused by a number of economic factors that led to the slow growth of the economy during this period. The leading theory regarding the cause of The Great Depression holds that it resulted from the stock market crash in 1929, the vast unemployment and it impact on the Canadian economy and the misdistribution of wealth between people. Evidently the Great depression had caused economic turmoil during the stock market crash of 1929 that had a large impact on the economy of Canada. Prior to the crash, around the beginning of 1928, the Federal Reserve bank in the U.S began raising interest rates due to financial speculation and inflated stock prices.
