Plagiarism: Our Members' Views
Our members want us to stamp out plagiarism
To ensure that we built our anti-plagiarism strategy on strong foundations we began by asking our users about the way in which they use our site.
The results were very positive and underlined that the vast majority of our users are using the site ethically and want us to take greater steps to prevent the minority of users using it unethically.
When asked How supportive are you of us working closely with the academic community to find ways of preventing plagiarism? 75% of our users were supportive, and only 7% were unsupportive.

When asked how they viewed the site, 81% of our users felt the site was an ethical academic resource, and only 5% thought it was unethical.

When asked whether they understood what plagiarism meant, 82% said yes they did understand what it means. However when asked how clear they were on what counts as plagiarism, and what legitimate use of the site was only 37% were very clear, with a further 33% being fairly clear.
