Plagiarism: An Introduction

Teachers have always used students’ work as a teaching aid - pinning it up on noticeboards, or putting it in their libraries. Coursework.Info uses the web to do this on a national scale. Read teachers' praise for our service here.

As a responsible company, we know that Coursework Libraries do have a risk of plagiarism from a small minority of users. We're proud of what we do, and work very hard to minimise that risk for the good of all our users.

We are strongly against plagiarism and work hard to eliminate it

We submit our members’ coursework to Turnitin the UK’s leading plagiarism detection software (provided by the government-funded JISC Plagiarism Advisory Service). This protects your hard work by identifying people who try and copy it.

We give thorough, easily understandable advice on how to avoid plagiarism. We've even published our own guide on academic referencing (with foreword by the Shadow Minister for Higher Education) and edited by the Plagiarism Advisory Service. This is free for all members.

We put hidden text in our coursework to make it harder to copy entire sections of a document, and we have clear warnings across our site on the serious penalties of plagiarism. If academics suspect plagiarism we give them free access to help them investigate.

We don’t offer custom coursework writing services. We believe that paying someone to do your work for you is cheating.

We attend, engage in, and where possible speak at, all academic conferences on plagiarism. And we are lobbying UK government and educational bodies to promote a Code of Conduct for educational Coursework Libraries, to encourage others to live up to our high standards.
