reflective analysis of a high risk birth For the purpose of this essay I have chosen to discuss the midwifery care of Leila, a thirty one year old gravida two para one whose pregnancy I had followed. I shall discuss the midwives role in identifying risk factors specific to the woman in their care and consider ways that we can retain elements of a natural birth, despite having a high risk pregnancy. Identifying factors have been changed in accordance with confidentiality (NMC, 2002). Leila's previous pregnancy was uneventful until her estimated delivery date had been exceeded and labour was induced at forty two weeks for post maturity. She progressed well and after a six hour labour she had a normal vertex delivery of a live male infant.
