Client Teaching This summative assignment will explore and examine the healthcare professional's role in patient education. It will analyse the processes of teaching and learning, reflecting on teaching experiences the author, a student nurse participated in whist on a community based placement. The subject promoted to raise awareness, was Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The rationale as to why this subject was chosen was increase knowledge within the target group and hopefully change behaviours. The teaching sessions not only educated clients on the subject of SIDS but also looked at preventative measures. The target audience involved in the teaching sessions were pregnant women and parents of young infants. The teaching sessions took place mainly within the clients own homes and occasionally within the health centre during baby and ante natal clinics.
