Patients within a hospital setting that require assistance with intimate care needs will at some stage have to encounter the difficult situation of exposing their bodies. From a carers perspective coming into contact with a person's body may be difficult. Many reasons could be the cause of this including, gender, age and their religion. This essay aims to highlight strategies that carers could put in place to ultimately make this difficult situation more pleasant for all parties involved. Contact with or the sight of a person's body can be a difficult issues for carers in a caring relationship for a number of reasons including for example a woman was giving birth and a male physician was assisting then this women would feel as if her dignity was being jeopardised.
