Optometry Optometry is a very important career that is needed for our health and for society. Optometrists are health care provides who examine, diagnose, treat, management and to help prevent diseases and disorders of the visual system. This means that they do the most they can do possible to help you have healthy eyes. Optometrists are also able to diagnose related general conditions. They examine the eye with any method, with the exception of laser surgery, to treat it if there are any abnormalities. They also measure the eye with certain instruments for any defects. If there are any deficiencies in the eye the optometrist writes out a prescription for corrective lenses or for eye therapy. However optometrists do not make the lenses. This is the job of opticians. Also, optometrists do not practise medicine, treat diseases of the eye or conducts eye surgery. This is done by physicians or opthalmologists....
