Do I think that our healthcare system should allow for George Best (and others like him) to be allocated tax payers money to perform liver transplants and provide aftercare, I would disagree. Obviously all cases are unique, but

Social issues in health care Diagnostic Essay When we talk about George Best many associate him as a talented football player who was admired across the world. However, some people's views about George Best may be over-shadowed by his contentious liver transplant in 2002; this created much controversy across the media and on the streets of Britain. Is it right for our health care system to allow a man known significantly around Britain for his continuous alcoholism to obtain a liver transplant? In my opinion, I feel that liver transplants should be donated to people who are no less than 100% committed to life, no matter what the individual must sacrifice. I can completely understand why people were angered when George Best embarked on a drinking binge just months after his transplant. In relation to this it is clear to see why campaigners fear that there may be a significant decrease in donors...
