Selina Mehmi Did the traditional working class family 'decline' in the second half of the twentieth century? The views about a traditional working class family and the roles of men and women have differed vastly since the late twentieth century. Due to these differences we now portray a different style of living and carry out different roles in comparison to those of earlier traditions. In this essay I will discuss what a traditional working class family was in the late twentieth century, the roles and duties that were carried out by men and women, evidence for deviation from this and then compare today to the past as a conclusion. The main body of this essay will discuss the changes in attitudes towards women and also changes in roles and behaviours, this is because it is these that give most evidence of deviation from the traditional working class family.
