From the perspective of the medical model, postnatal depression is interpreted as a diagnosable disease wherein it implies that there is a chemical disturbance in the brain chemistry of the person and that the diagnosis of depression will lead to medical intervention, including the use of antidepressant medication (Unit 20, p. 150). I am going to find out from the course materials what issues and other approaches are raised by the case study of Jenny and will illustrate and discuss how these issues and approaches affects Jenny to her condition.
