Explain and evaluate the concepts of the core, semi - peripheral and peripheral states. This essay will discuss, explain and evaluate the concepts of the core, semi-peripheral and peripheral states. To do this, the essay will explain the theories of Karl Marx, these being class conflict, stratification and the materialist concept of history. The Marxist analysis will give a basic underpinning for the main body of the essay, that being underdevelopment, dependency and exploitation.
