Discuss your example in terms of the issues raised on the course so far The purpose of this essay is to explore and examine the intersection between psychology and the media, focusing specifically upon the way difference signifies 'otherness' through media portrayals of crime and sexuality. My focus of attention is upon the subject of women as killers and how they are portrayed in mainstream media to signify 'otherness'. For the purposes of this essay it will be necessary to provide some background information with regards to psychology and to define what is meant by the term 'otherness'.
