Sabrina Sharawy Cultural Anthropology October 7th, 2004 Paper 2- Mid Term 'One of the main tasks of cultural anthropology is to make us think differently about our own culture and how we think about the rest of the world.' Evaluate this statement using some of the materials/topics we have addressed on this course. Coming from a multicultural background, I definitely believe that every culture has its own set of values, norms, traditions, and that each society 'works' in a different and unique way. I come from a mixed marriage, my mother being half German and half English and my father being half Syrian and half Egyptian. Therefore, I have had my fair share of experience when it comes to comparing different cultures and the way they all function. I was raised in Egypt, but not in what you would call a typically Egyptian way due to the fact that my mother is a foreigner...
