Oliver Stevenson "Men are logical and women are mad"- Etymology and the inherent sexism of language The words policeman, fireman and workman all relate towards the word man, although women now take up these jobs and are part of everyday occurrence. However, when you think of a stereotypical profession that women would either be interested in, or that are deemed as 'women's jobs', you might think of things like nursing, teaching and social work (along with others). You will see that all these jobs are related to childcare. There is also the 'theory' that women take up professions relating to cooking and/or cleaning of which is complete fiction. It now seems that society has moved on from the pre-feminist society of the late 70's early 80's where the first batch of women were seen to be starting in what were deemed male roles.
