Do culture and individual beliefs affect logical thinking? If so, how do they influence the conclusions we reach? To begin one must ask one's self: Logical thinking is what exactly? "It is the process through which one uses reasoning in order to draw a sound conclusion." If one is to follow the definition the thinking process cannot be influenced by foreign stimuli as long as all the premises are true and validated. Consider the following syllogism: All reptiles have cold blood. Lizards are reptiles. Lizards have cold blood. This statement is completely logical, because its major premise it a truism. Generalizing however, one can refer to logical thinking as the process of deducing a plausible explanation or conclusion from what is known. Though the knowledge people have often presents fallacies because of the use of stereotypes, prejudices and taboos inflicted by their culture.
