The option I have decided to under take is the first. I will build and test a sensor. The sensor I have decided to build and test is a thermocouple. Thermocouples are temperature sensors suitable for use with any make of instrument designed or programmed for use with the same type of thermocouple. Thermocouples are based on the principle that when two different metals are joined and a predictable thermoelectric voltage will be generated. The amount of voltage generated depends on the difference in temperature between the measuring junction and the reference junction. A junction is a connection to the measuring device.
