December 8, 2003 Experimenting With Bernoulli's Equation Abstract The relationship between pressure and depth as it relates to Bernoulli's equation was investigated using a Bernoulli's tube. The distances of the water flowing from the three holes were used to determine through kinematic equations what the velocity of the water leaving the holes was, and this was compared to the theoretical calculations using Bernoulli's equation. The percent errors for the three holes from the top to bottom were 0.001%, 10.08%, and 7.97%. Introduction Scuba divers and swimmers can tell by their senses that the deeper they go in water, the greater the pressure they feel. Bernoulli was the first to relate the pressure of a liquid with the depth through his equation: P2 = P1 + ?gh where P1 is the atmospheric pressure at the surface of the liquid, ? is the density of the liquid in kg/m3, g is the acceleration due to gravity, which is 9.80 m/s2,...
