Introduction An organic crude product obtained from a 'worked up' reaction mixture will in almost all cases need to be purified further. The work-up, by which this procedure is usually known, simply refers to the isolation of the product from the reaction mixture, free from solvent and spent reagents, and does not imply any purification.
