The purpose of this essay is to look at a specific problem that the patient has encountered and how the problem affects the lifespan. When a person has epilepsy it means that a person has recurring seizures but these can also be called fits. The seizure is caused by a sudden burst of excess electrical activity in the brain, causing a temporary disruption in the normal message passing between brain cells. This disruption means that the brains messages become stopped or mixed up. The brain is responsible for all of the body's functions. So when a person experiences a seizure it will depend on whereabouts in their brain the epileptic activity begins and how widely and quickly it spreads.
