Comparing 1951 Beano to 2007 Beano. Over the past few weeks I have been analysing the differences in content and presentational styles between a 1951 copy of the Beano and 2007 copy of the beano. In 1951 Denis the menace, by D.C Thompson, made his debut in the Beano. Ever since then, copy sales have averaged around 150,000 a week, this just shows that even though technology has moved on D.C Thompson is still a major player in the game. Although sales of the Beano average at 150,000 a week, sales have actually decreased since the 1980's, one of the biggest influences in this is that media has moved on leaps and bounds, with sky at our fingertips, children don't have to go down the shop and buy the Beano.
