The commercialisation of Paris' rich cultural heritage is examined and the positive and negative aspects of the tourism industry are investigated. Finally, strategies for the future development of Paris as a major tourist resort are considered. The observational research for this assignment was carried out during a field trip to Paris during April 2006 and evidence was gathered from questionnaires distributed to local residents.
