Health and Safety at London Underground The online magazine of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development recently published an article sub-headed, "From witnessing suicides to being assaulted by passengers, trauma is an inevitable part of the job for many London Underground employees" (Edwards 2004). The above quote highlights the issue of health and safety and how employees are affected by workplace trauma. The well being of employees is central to the organisations running, especially in a hectic environment like the London Underground (LU). For these reasons I propose to discuss the way in which the LU has responded to these incidents and what impact it has left on employee relations. The paper will focus on two health and safety concerns which tie in together, firstly, traumatisation as a result of one-under incidents and secondly, stress suffered as a result of aggressive passengers.
