By: Annette Cheney #7 April 30, 2007 Social Studies Annette Cheney#7 Castle Report January 13, 2000 Beaumaris Castle Beaumaris castle is one of the most beautiful castle forts in the world. Its towers are huge and perfectly symmetrical. It has 2 gatehouses, 6 interior towers, 3 portcullises, 16 outer defense towers, and a deep, 18ft wide moat. The inner ward is about 3/4 of an acre. In the inner ward there are numerous little "houses" surrounded by gardens, and in the midst of all there is a little chapel. This chapel is the highlight of the castle because of its high vaulted ceilings and beautiful, wood carved statues. This was the biggest, most ambitious of King Edward I's castles. Beaumaris castle was built on a beaumareys which in English means "beautiful marsh". It is settled in a scenic place with a wonderful view of the Snowdi Mt. and a glimpse of Conwy Lake....
