... ABSTRACT Brucellosis Over the last fifty years great efforts have been made to eradicate brucella from the dairy population. Brucellosis can be contracted from drinking the milk of cows infected with Brucella abortus and causes "undulant fever" in humans. Other organisms that cause brucella in human are B. melitensis, B. suis, and rarely B. canis. Brucellosis is a debilitating disease with intermittent fevers and joint involvement. Rapid detection of Brucella is essential to start immediate therapy and to prevent further spread of the disease. Brucellosis can be mainly detected with the help of following tests Brucellosis screening is mainly done with serological tests Rose Bengal Test, Wright's Serum Agglutination Test, Complement Fixation Test, Ring-Test and ELISA which are the only tests applicable to mass screening programs.
