The title of my course work is entitled "the experiences of domestic labour in Afro-Caribbean women ages 35-50. Domestic labour can be defined as the shared physical roles between husband and wives within a household. Through researches I have been able to find three pieces of sociological studies that link directly to my research. Name of sociologists 1) Anne Oakley (1974) Anne Oakely suggests that domestic labour became the dominate role for married women of the industrialisation and increased factory production. Oakely says that the characteristics of housework is alienated and lacks value. She says that it is unpaid and automatically associated with women. Oakely strongly disagrees with Willmot and Young about the symmetrical family. 2) Ann Phoenix and Heidi Mirza Phoenix and Mirza conducted a study on the practices of the lifestyles on Afro-Caribbean families residing in the United Kingdom.
