I'm going to start by interpreting the meaning of 'control' as it is one of the most imprecise terms in the English language, having a wide range of implications, according to Emmanuel, Otley and Merchant. They define control as being the "application of policies and procedures for directing, regulating and co-ordinating production, administration and other business activities in a way to achieve the objectives of the enterprise." From this definition, we can assume that 'personal control' is the idea of control as domination, whereby the person 'in control' is the one who has the power to enforce his want...
