Soton data Soton data is providing its employees with training that is fundamental to the running of the company. However, this training appears to be very desirable to other firms, who are simply poaching trained workers from Soton data. Due to this desirability, it could be assumed that the company is offering general purpose training, which is just as useful to its own company, as it is to other companies in the same industry. Losing staff members could be very unprofitable for Soton data if they are paying for the worker's general purpose training. They will have lost any firm specific skills that person had, and working relationships will have been disrupted (Baron and Kreps 1999). The company will also have the cost of selecting new suitable workers who are adaptable and have the ability to be trained well.
