... AIMS I shall evaluate the following statement by Maria, " English football is so boring. For one thing, there are so few goals scored. It is more exciting when it is played in the Italian style, where more goals are scored. No wonder people don't go to watch games in England." in the light of empirical data about English and Italian football. I shall tackle different parts of the statement in different parts of my work. In the first part of her statement, Maria claims that more goals are scored in Italian football than in the English one, and I want to evaluate this in the light of available scores record data. The second part of her statement assumes presence of a positive association between attendance and number of goals. Such statement I will also criticize and evaluate in the second part of my work, in the light of empirical data. AIM 1 I
