Nowadays, the soap opera is an important television genre that was born in 1930s in America as a radio serial sponsored by the giant soap powder manufacturers like Proctor and Gamble. They created this kind of radio programmes to attract women listeners and their objectives were to advertise and sell their products. The effectiveness of the sponsorship of daytime radio programmes for women and the commercial interests to the advertisers had a beneficial effect to develop soap operas.
