The small newspapers owned by one person or a family, and financed through sales is a thing of the past, and has given way to gigantic conglomerates with interests in almost every conceivable form of money-making business. This has led to a far greater diversity than people could have dreamt of a century ago, but it has also led to a mainstreaming of the news-industry, where the small independent papers, sometimes holding a view not generally accepted as the 'right' view, have had no chance of survival.
