Mise-en-scene is significant within any film throughout history and today and is the most used when it comes to a film analysis. One can hardly escape the use of mise-en-scene in film, as it is present in every shot. Within Alfred Hitchcock's "The Bird's" and Mattieu Kassovitz's "La Haine", one can see the significance of mise-en-scene. The mise-en-scene particularly gives significance to the character development of Melanie in 'The Birds' and to the social politics of race in France at the time of production within 'La Haine'.
