Write a detailed comparison between the two film versions of the passage from 'Great Expectations' After comparing the two versions of the opening scene of 'Great Expectations', directed by lean in 1946 and Jarrold in 1998. Both directors take a different approach and both have a different style and depiction from the book written by Charles Dickens. Although both depictions are completely different, it is important to remember they were written in different times and performed for different audiences. The main points that occur in the films, is that Lean is true to the book and his style is simply a transfer from theatre to screen because the camera angles he uses are those of what would be viewed in a theatre because he uses less active camera work.
