Lee Simcox 18/11/2007 With reference to Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom (adventure), analyse its narrative structure using relevant critical theories Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a 1984 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. The film follows the heroic fictional archaeologist Indiana Jones in his quest to find and return a sacred stone which was stolen from a poor Indian village. The film can be analysed with reference to many concepts of narrative structure. Vladimir Propp described his theory of basic character types, which could easily be applied to this film. The hero, who is the main character on the quest, is clearly Indiana Jones, the gallant archaeologist, as he is the title character with whom the film follows from the start to the finish.
