Nic Dean- Media (HN) Why are so many contemporary Hollywood films remakes/re-interpretations of other texts? Please consider and write about the advantages and disadvantages to the audience. In recent years, Hollywood has been exploiting dozens of older and foreign language films and producing remakes that differ radically from the originals. The results have produced successes and failures. The main reason for big Hollywood producers to undergo this procedure is for money. If the original was a hit, then there is almost a guarantee that a sequel or remake will be just as successful. But, there have been many occasions when this has not been the situation, and in fact, the remake has been a failure. (E.g. 'The hulk'). Although the comic books were extremely successful with younger children, the film was not. It contained lots of violence, and inflated special effects, and proved to be a Hollywood flop!
