East is East, Nil By Mouth and Bridget Jones's Diary are three films which I believe offer contrasting representations of Britain (and the British) and also demonstrates a variety of financing, production and exhibition, all pivotal parts behind a films success in the mainstream medium. East is East is a FilmFour production. FilmFour were responsible for all major aspects of the films marketing, (launching a £1 million campaign), financing (spending £2.4 million to make) and distributing. A lot of the films made on FilmFour reflected David Rose's (Commissioning Editor) preference on themes. His style focuses around "contemporary and political issues". "Didn't have anything about nil by mouth or bridget jones so is a very misleading title"
