East is East, Nil By Mouth and Bridget Jones's Diary are three films which I believe offer contrasting representations of Britain (and the British) and also demonstrates a variety of financing, production and exhibition, all pivotal parts behind a films success in the mainstream medium. East is East is a FilmFour production. FilmFour were responsible for all major aspects of the films marketing, (launching a £1 million campaign), financing (spending £2.4 million to make) and distributing. A lot of the films made on FilmFour reflected David Rose's (Commissioning Editor) preference on themes. His style focuses around "contemporary and political issues".
