Bond started out as a very modern film, setting new SFX standards. The first Bond film was in the cinemas the same day as the Beatles' first single came out. It was the beginning of a new era. Teenagers were now free to spend their own money, as they didn't have to complete the national service, so they could get jobs. They also had much more spare time.
