Trailers are basically shown as advertisements for a certain film; they attempt to encourage the viewers to watch the film that they are advertising. Trailers tend to in the main, show the most exciting parts of the film, so that people are persuaded to come and watch the film and therefore generating stack loads of money for the producers. They mainly show scenes which are particularly dramatic, scary or get the audience to wonder what will happen next. The drama and hype is completed by the commentary, which skilfully emphasises why it is a must to see this film. One may awe at the amount of money, i.e. many millions, spent in producing a film but the significant effort and expenditure spent on producing the advertising campaign must not be underestimated.
