How does Peter Weir encourage watchers of the Trueman Show to ask Questions? The first time you watch this film you feel completely clueless as to what is going on and how the film will conclude. This means it is obviously not your average film. First time viewers are given this impression by Peter Weir, cleverly using lots of very unique and subtle techniques to tell us that this is not a normal film. The first thing we notice as an audience is the opening credits. Peter Weir has written the credits as if they are for the Truman show. For example it says Truman Burbank starring as himself, rather than Jim Carrey starring as Trueman Burbank. This immediately tells us, that the film we are watching is a film about a film.
