The Shawshank Redemption In this piece of coursework, I am going to be reviewing The Shaw Shank Redemption as part of my media coursework. The film was an adaptation of Stephan King's 1982 novella called "Rita Hayworth and Shaw Shank Redemption." The Shaw Shank redemption was released in 1994 and was filmed in America, New England. The time span of the film is twenty years, from 1947 to 1967. The Shaw Shank redemption was nominated for seven academy awards but failed to win a single one. The director and screenwriter of the film was Frank Darabont. The film was more of a success in the box office than in the Cinemas. The two main characters in this film are Andy Dufresne who is played by Tim Robbins and the second main character is Ellis Redding (Red) who is played By Morgan Freeman.
