Textual Analysis Film Title: The Others, Scene 10 The scene starts with a high angle shot looking down on Grace (Nicole Kidman) curled up in a ball, with the diegetic sound of her crying. The high angle shot makes grace look small and childlike which emphasises her vulnerability. Using a low angle shot would of made Grace look bigger and more dominant rather than weak and frightened. The low-key top lighting also helps to create the feeling of her sadness as she cries alone in the hallway and highlights Grace as the main image. The camera then moves into a close up shot of Graces face as the sound of piano music comes from within the film. The close up shot shows the astonished look on Graces face when she hears the music, which suggests that the music is unfamiliar to her and helps create an uncomfortable feeling for the audience.
