Present a detailed essay on one film or one broadcast fiction that you have enjoyed. Explain its appeal and the pleasure it offers its audience. In this essay I am going to look at the film American Beauty starring Kevin Spacey and Thora Birch. I am going to look at the way in which it appeals to its audience and how it comments on today's society. I am also going to apply the key concepts to elements of the film and try to identify its underlying meaning. I will also distinguish the genre and comment on what its target audience could be. American Beauty is the story of a man called Lester and his last year alive. It has an unconventional beginning because at the start of the film he tells you that in a year's time he will be dead. He reveals the ending before the film narration has started properly....
