One Day In September A documentary is defined as 'the use of the film medium to interpret creatively and in terms of social terms, the life of the people as it exists in reality' (Documentary Film, Rotha). Therefore, the key concept of a documentary is to capture on film what we consider to be the reality of life. The example of a documentary film I am going to analyse is one based on a terrorist attack that took place in1972. 'One Day In September', directed by Kevin Macdonald, tells the 'true' horrific events of the human physical and psychological torture nine hostages at the Olympics in Munich, Germany had to endure before being killed by Palestinian members of the terrorist group 'Black September'. Through photographic and film archive footage, computer generated reconstructions and interviews with those involved in the attack and the families of the hostages, Macdonald brings back...
