MEDIA COURSEWORK RUSH HOUR Starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker Director Brett Ratner I have decided to write a critical analysis of the film 'Rush Hour', which concerns action and comedy. The film hit the streets of America in 1998 and was a box office hit. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are two odd couple partners in this action comedy. Jackie Chan plays detective inspector Lee who is a modest, Kung Fu expert while Chris Tucker plays James Carter an ego-headed, big-mouthed L.A.P.D. cop. The difference in their characters creates a n contrast which highlights both Jackie Chan's seriousness and Chris Tucker's humour. Lee, who is from Hong Kong, teaches his partner something about Chinese food and martial arts; in return, Carter teaches Lee about Black-American ways of life. The majority of the film is shot in the high streets of Los Angeles and in the back streets of China Town....
