Media Coursework How does the film 'Witness' show the contrast between Amish Culture and Modern American Culture? The idea behind plots such as the one contained with in this film is mainly to make light of one subject while exposing and demoralising another. The two views are placed in opposition with evidence to support each cause, the audience becomes the jury and they are given the final say. The main focus of the film is centered on two leading characters; John Book, the down-to-earth police officer from the homicide division and Rachael, the straight-laced farm girl of Amish descent. These two personae become advocates for their respective societies, each one displaying personal traits that portray their cultures as a whole. Another main role in the film is that of Samuel, caught up in a situation which is far beyond his comprehension, he is the key factor in the relationship between John...
