How does Hitchcock create and maintain suspense in his 1960s film 'Psycho'? The film 'Psycho' was produced in early 1960s. It was a thriller by Hitchcock. It was a groundbreaking film because it was the first film which was horror and which manipulated the audience. It was also the first film in which a woman was shown in her bra before she went in the shower. 'Psycho' was first introduced as a fictional story in a book and before this film came out, Hitchcock made sure no one knows the story, and wanted to manipulate his audience so, he bought all the books which told the story of 'psycho' from the market in his area. This movie was called "the mother of the modern horror movie", because it was the first movie, which was horror. It was taboo, subjects dealt with matricide.
