Media coursework 1 In this essay I am going to analyse the characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad and write about how the makers of the film used different ways to create an unusual fairy tale. In an ordinary traditional fairy tale the ogre or giant is considered to be the bad, man-eating monster and the prince is often portrayed as the hero and the one who rescues the life of the princess. However, in the film Shrek the roles are reversed and the ogre is depicted as the hero and the prince is seen as greedy.
