How do the makers of Shrek manipulate and reverse the traditions of fairytales throughout the film. Shrek, created by DreamWorks, is no ordinary fairytale. It's an amazingly funny film, aimed at the whole family. Right from the start, fairytale traditions are manipulated in such a way that they become amusing. From watching other fairytale films such as Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, the viewer can see how different Shrek is from a traditional tale. For example, the character Shrek, (star of the film, voiced by comedic actor Mike Myers) isn't a traditional fairytale character, he isn't a 'handsome, charming prince' he's an ogre, he's Scottish, he's stubborn, isolated and he doesn't believe in fairytales. Little Donkey and Princess Fiona are also very unlikely characters. Princess Fiona, (voiced by Cameron Diaz) becomes an ogre at night and Donkey (voiced by another comedic actor, Eddie Murphy) is an attention seeking, hilariously funny, talking...
