Film Coursework Going to watch a film is an enjoyable past time for many people across the globe. According to statistics, here in the UK before the exciting invention of the television, the British public made a total of 1640 million trips to the cinema a year. This number later fell with the introduction of VCRs. The Video Cassette Recorder provided a chance to watch all the latest releases from the comfort of your own home, rather than travelling all the way to a cinema. In 1984, after the creation of the VCR, the number of British people visiting a cinema every year was now only 54 million, a significant drop of over 90%. In the short term the threat by VCRs, video rental outlets and satellite movie channels had caused the end of trips to the cinema.
