Gender Representation When the word stereotype is mentioned, a various amount of ideas of what it is come into our minds but the actual meaning of a stereotype is a conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image. A stereotype is when ideas are forced into people's minds to make them believe something. For example, a typical stereotype is that women can not drive. This is not true of course, and is basically a persons opinion that has been passed on and on for centuries. This is where ideas about gender are linked to stereotyping, for instance the stereotype that men should be the ones to work and bring home the money, and that women should be the ones to keep the house tidy and raise the children, is a very old fashioned stereotype. Of course these days women are seen as equals to men and are also seen as more independent...
